1991 Upmann Petit Palatinos
A rare handmade cigar, sourced in Switzerland. I would love to find more of these - just a great everyday cigar!
La Flor de Cano Corona band (scanned with microscope)
After a minor controversy about the authenticity of an Hong Kong vendor's cigars, I did my own research.
1984 Romeo y Julieta Petit Coronas (ex-Christies)
Bought these beauties for a pretty penny at the last auction. They are round and the flavors are similarly rounded, complex, complete. A perfect cigar in my opinion, small, underrated, but classy and classic.
1990 Bolivar Amado "G"
Certainly not a refined vintage cigar, this rough, time-darkened (these were boxed 'claro') hard small cigar is absolutely "Bolivar" but not smoothed by 15 years of aging. I must wait another year or two to try another.
H Upmann Club Epicur
This is one of my favorite cigars, very rich and complex with wine-like qualities. Spain's Club Epicur knew what they were doing when they developed this cigar and its magical blend. I received one box from a dear friend in Spain, a prized possession.
Dunhill Seleccion Montecristo Especiales
These were extremely well-stored and absolutely in perfect condition. The flavors of these cigars were very complex, with predominant medium tobacco and espresso tones. The "bullseye" band - which I've seen on some other Dunhill Seleccion cigars (Romeo Cedros Deluxe #1, Partagas Lonsdales, etc.) is pretty cool!
1998 Upmann Queen's Jubilee Monarchs
These cigars are quite expensive, purchased in London. They are 1998 production with a special band for the 2002 Queen's Jubilee Celebration. Are they special production cigars? I am told by an impeccable source in the trade in the UK:
The Upmann Monarchs - untubed - have not been available in the UK for many years. The Jubilee cigars were part of a small 'one-off' delivery from Cuba. All of the cigars (not sure how many but it was not a large order) were banded for the Jubilee. I think we can say it was a genuine special edition.
Bruce's 50th Birthday Party Line-Up
Oh What a Day! Davidoff Ambassadrice as a pre-prandial, the meal being a major Beinlich's cheeseburger deluxe. At the brewery, smoked a 1970's Por Larranaga Corona Chica (thank you M!) and a Dunhill Havana Club. Then, at the evening party, a 1492 and the closer, a Don Candido #508.

the glass menagerie
These are among my favourite collectibles! The glass "office" jars supposedly sealed in the Havana cigars' 'goodness' and upon opening have been described as 'producing overwhelming, swirling aromas'. Even empty they are quite beautiful.
old tins for 5-packs of Havanas
Something about these tins is particularly nostalgic; perhaps it is the thought (imagined or real) that the smoker would carry these in their coat pocket and, when the moment was just right, bring them forth and withdraw one single (usually machine made) Havana.
